Cookbook Club online event: Saturday 22nd June, 8.30 - 9.30am
Joining our next digital event - discussing 'cookbooks to travel by'
A digital meet-up for us all to share thoughts and book recommendations on this month’s cookbook club theme: cookbooks to travel by. Our discussion is going to be about the genre, rather than a particular book.
The format is basically like any other book club gathering where the members share thoughts, ideas and opinions - just with food and cookbooks at its heart (and therefore even better). We want this to be an hour of lovely, relaxed, insightful cookbook conversation.
When and where
On: Saturday 22nd June, 8.30am - 9.30am BST
We are meeting online via Zoom. The session will be recorded and (probably) made available for the wider The Kitchen Bookshelf community to watch back. If you would rather it wasn't, then please do let me know.

Send me a message if you would like to join in (paid subscribers only):
What are we talking about?
The meet-up is focussed on this month’s cookbook club theme: cookbooks to travel by.
To get you thinking: When I asked the community here for thoughts on cookbooks with that ability to transport us to far away places, some of the books mentioned were Fuchsia Dunlop’s Land of Fish and Rice; Russell Normans’s Brutto; Rachel Roddy’s Two Kitchens; Felicity Cloake’s One More Croissant for the Road; anything by Anthony Bourdain. These and more are the books you have told me about so far, and I can’t wait to hear about more.
There’s some thoughts from me on what makes a good cookbook to travel by here. And all week long I’ve been picking a book to travel by off my shelves and putting it into the chat.
What do I need to do to prepare?
It is not essential to have cooked something to talk about. This meet-up is for sharing thoughts about books more broadly rather than a particular book or set of dishes.
What will the format be?
I will do general hello’s and talk a little about the theme. Then it is over to you. I will be encouraging lots of open conversation so please do come with ideas of books you love and why. If there’s a book or author you really want to make sure you get the chance to talk about then you can let me know that ahead of time.
Who is coming?
This meet-up is only for paid subscribers to The Kitchen Bookshelf. Places are limited to ensure we are not too large a group for comfortable conversation.
If you have not yet registered for a place and would like to come along then use the message box below.
I’m really looking forward to seeing you there.
