This week I want to do nothing more than share with you barely 25 seconds of Olia Hercules singing at her dinner last night to launch her memoir, Strong Roots, into the world.

Olia had said the evening was going to be like a Ukrainian wedding and now I’m off to find myself some Ukrainian friends with impending nuptials. What a glorious bringing together of people over food and music. Simultaneously grounding and axis-shifting.

Capped off by Olia joining the Ukrainian band for a few songs so gently powerful they felt like a punch to the soul.

I hope you enjoy watching this glimpsed moment. I hope you will think about reading (or listening to) Olia’s memoir. She is a special person and this is a special book.
