Been and gone:
Wednesday 31st July, 6pm - Staycation Festival, Leeds: Enjoy a three-course meal from Seasoning, put together for Staycation by the top team of chefs at award-winning Leeds restaurant, Kino. And hear direct from me while you dine (well, between courses).
Saturday 6th July, 2pm - Woolwich Beanfeast: I’ll be part of a panel discussion hosted by Emily Gussin, delicious magazine’s food and recipe editor, as well as the magazine’s lead on sustainability. Alongside cookbook authors Marie Mitchell and Janusz Domagala, we will be discussing what food makes for a celebration, what occasions the panellists like to celebrate and how, and how heritage and past is incorporated into new occasions and celebrations.
Friday 28th June, 7pm - Seasoning x Sitopia Farm Midsummer Soirée: Sitopia is a modern urban farm in Greenwich. They grow vegetables and flowers using organic, regenerative, and no-dig principles and sell direct to the local community, to chefs, and to florists. I am so looking forward to this event that comprises a tour of the beautiful farm guided by the Sitopia Farm team who will share highlights of their organic farming practices and the journey from soil to plate; a talk from me about seasonal eating and cooking, offering insights, tips, and inspiration to elevate your culinary adventures; plus drinks and canapés.
Thursday 27th June, 7pm - at Holtwhites Bakery & Deli, London: My very favourite bakery happens to be at the end of my road. So I am thrilled to have the shortest possible distance to travel to this ‘Midsummer Seasoning Menu’. A 3-course dinner from Seasoning plus cocktail.
Thursday 6th June, 7.30pm - at Booka Bookshop in Oswestry, Shropshire: Talk and tastings.
Monday 3rd June, 7pm - at The British Library, London: Part of the British Library Food Season 2024 programme. I’ll be talking with chef and farmer Julius Roberts about the pressures, joys and challenges of modern farming and how the digital world can help celebrate the rhythms of the farming year.
Saturday 25th May, 1pm - at The British Library, London: Part of the British Library Food Season 2024 programme. I’ll be talking with bestselling author Katherine May about food, life, and the connections that come from being led creatively, mentally and culinarily by nature and the changing seasons. Chaired by Leyla Kazim.
Saturday 11th May, 11am - at Divertimenti Cookery School in Chelsea, London: A cooking demonstration and sharing feast. I’ll be showing how seasonal produce can be maximised in the kitchen time and time again with ideas on different ways to use spring vegetables, fruits, fish, meat and dairy; their flavour partners, and preserving tips. Discover the vital role that shopping, cooking and eating seasonally plays in sustainability, and the joy that comes from letting the rhythms of the seasons into your kitchen through the year.
I will be cooking (and you will be eating): Asparagus, hot smoked trout and pea shoot tart / Frisée, new potato and radish salad / Elderflower madeleines with gin-poached gooseberries. Plus a glass of Sherry, elderflower and orange blossom collins (or soft alternative).
