June's Cookbook Club discussion: Thursday 26th June, 7pm
Information for June's cookbook club focus on the work on Paula Wolfert
Registration is open for the digital discussion group for us all to share food and thoughts on:
Paula Wolfert, the acclaimed American food writer and cookbook author renowned for her deep exploration of Mediterranean and Moroccan cuisines.
on Thursday 26th June, 7pm - 8pm BST
Send me a message if you’d like to join in the discussion. The format is simple and basically like any other book club gathering where the members share thoughts, ideas and opinions - just with food and cookbooks at its heart (and therefore even better).
I have written some background notes about Paula Wolfert and her cookbooks and why her last book is so good it earned this mic drop cover quote from Claudia Roden no less:
“There is no book on the food of Morocco as good as this one”

Try the recipes
Paula Wolfert’s website is generous with links to many of her recipes. A little poke around there should set you well on your way to trying her food.
Do try if you can to take a look at the actual books, too. Certainly The Food of Morocco and The Cooking of South-West France are cookbooks my shelves wouldn't be without.
About the discussion group
We’ll meet over zoom. Everyone who attends will have the opportunity talk about what you have made from Paula Wolfert’s books / recipes. We want to hear about what you cooked, what you thought of what you cooked, and what you think about her food and books more generally.
Our discussion will be recorded but not made available for the wider community to watch back. I want everyone to feel free to say what you think, without thinking those remarks will live forever on the web. Numbers are limited to small groups.
It is not essential to have cooked something from the book, but you / we really will get more out of this if you have.
Places are limited and only open to paid subscribers. Free to attend.

Registration is open for the digital meet-up for us all to share food and thoughts on April’s cookbook club book pick:
I found the ‘cooking of south west France ‘ at the beginning looked rather intimidating compared to the usual ‘here is my beautiful life in south west France with some recipes ‘ books. But the recipes are very good indeed , I cooked her basque chicken last night and what was so good was that there was nothing in it that could not be bought in our local farm shop , and for someone who lives in the country with me that is a big deal. I found it interesting to compare with Delia’s chicken basque, many more ingredients, needs a supermarket visit, and it was delicious and tasted old fashioned but in such a good way
